Grief Counselor

The Mourning Hope Grief Center is seeking a dynamic Grief Counselor.

This full-time position in Lincoln, Nebraska will be responsible for delivering individual counseling and implementing peer-based grief support groups for all ages. The Grief Counselor will be a key figure in the organization's efforts to provide support and assistance to bereaved individuals and families.

  • A master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field is a requisite.
  • License eligibility required; current licensure preferred.
  • Thanatology or trauma-related certification is desirable.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in working with groups (both children and adults). This experience should be relevant to grief support and counseling.
  • Effective communication and public speaking skills are essential. Being bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Mourning Hope’s mission.
  • Professional experience with grief, loss and trauma related to serving bereaved children and families.
  • Familiarity with diverse populations and local community resources.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule which will include some evening and weekend hours. This flexibility is necessary to accommodate the availability of those seeking grief support.

Salary is commensurate with experience and geographical rates.
