Support Group Facilitator

Support Group Facilitator

Mourning Hope facilitators lead evening support groups for youth ages kindergarten through high school senior and their families. Groups meet in the evenings from 6:30-8 p.m. Experience is not required. Facilitators must attend one of our training sessions, and are then matched with an experienced group facilitator who serves as a mentor throughout their first series. If both you and Mourning Hope believe facilitating is a good fit for you, you will be asked to commit to facilitating at least one 10-night series (one meeting per week for 10 consecutive weeks) within a year of attending training. A background check is completed on all Mourning Hope facilitators before they begin working with families.

2020 Facilitator Training

Training sessions will be scheduled upon relocation to the new Mourning Hope Grief Center in 2020.

Participants are expected to attend both days of training in order to be eligible to facilitate Mourning Hope grief support groups.

$50 one-time fee to cover the cost of a background check, training materials and meals. A reduced fee may be available for students with a full course load. Payment is accepted online or via check.

Framing the Future

All current support group facilitators will be required to attend a Framing the Future session in preparation for relocation to the new Mourning Hope Grief Center facility in 2020. This training will focus on updates to the peer support group program model, as well as provide information about facilitating child-lead activities.
