Volunteers are the backbone of Mourning Hope! From serving as a group facilitator to serving dinner to families, helping with meaningful art and sewing projects to helping prep materials for camps and activities, there are so many ways to get involved and be part of creating hope and healing. If you have a heart for helping grieving families, we want to meet you!

Volunteers must be at least 18. A background check is completed on all Mourning Hope volunteers before they begin interacting with participants.
- Group Facilitator
- Co-lead evening support groups for children, teens, young adults, and adults! We provide training and mentorship, you commit to weekly group nights in 10-week sessions.
- Camp Erin Volunteer
- Camp Erin is a free bereavement camp for children and teens, made possible through the support of dozens of dedicated and caring volunteers. Volunteers serve as cabin buddies and support staff to assist with diverse camp activities.
- Sewing Assistant
- We provide sewing machines and materials, you bring your talent for sewing and willingness to help children in evening support groups create a comfort pillow to remember their person. Engaging with our youth participants allows you to play a small but meaningful role in their healing journey!
- Food Host
- Every Family Grief Support Group begins with a meal, and we need friendly faces to help with set-up, serving, and clean-up. Volunteer a couple times a year or much more frequently—whatever works for you.
- Comfort/Therapy Pet Handler
- If you’re a trained comfort pet handler, you and your trained furry friend are invited to be part of support groups. Therapy dogs (and their handlers!) are heroes!
- Office/Project Volunteer
- This is a great option if you’d just like to lend a hand! Help with occasional facilities (i.e. weeding, cleaning) and administrative (organizing supplies, setting up activities) tasks.
