Profile #23 - Doug and Pam Ganz

Doug and Pam Ganz have contributed to Mourning Hope in numerous roles, from fundraisers to group facilitators. Their most significant contributions, however, have been as Board of Trustees chairs and as co-chairs of Mourning Hope’s capital campaign. Without their commitment, Mourning Hope’s state-of-the-art grief center would not have come to life.

Pam’s involvement with Mourning Hope has been driven by her love for those transformative moments when a child, teen or caregiver realizes they’re not alone in their grief. “It’s a powerful thing to witness,” she shares. “I’ve loved seeing Mourning Hope’s mission translate into real growth and healing over the months and years. I’m deeply moved by our team of employees and volunteers, who radiate compassion, empathy, acceptance, hope and joy.”

For Doug, being a part of Mourning Hope goes beyond simply lending a hand; it’s about making a lasting impact. He finds deep fulfillment in working to keep Mourning Hope’s programs accessible to every family in need, regardless of their financial circumstances. Through his dedicated fundraising efforts, Doug ensures that essential grief support programs continue to thrive and grow.

Pam recalls an especially meaningful experience from nearly two years ago. While most of her facilitation work has been with children and teens, this time, she served as a co-facilitator for the caregiver group. On the first night, she met Emily, a young mother with two daughters, whose grief was profound and overwhelming. Pam understood that simply showing up each week was an immense challenge for Emily. Yet, she attended faithfully, finding connection and support among others who shared similar journeys. Almost a year later, Pam saw Emily again at an event where she was featured in an exhibit of her narrative photography, sharing her story of her husband’s cancer diagnosis, his death and her own path toward healing. Her photographs, paired with brief descriptions, stirred deep emotions. Emily’s resiliency, strength and journey toward healing for herself and her daughters were truly inspiring.

Doug and Pam are pillars of support and leadership within our community. Their commitment to Mourning Hope has made a profound impact on countless lives and we are immensely grateful to have them as part of our Mourning Hope team.
